our last blog from africa

This will be our last chance to post to the blog from Africa.   We will finish the story from home.
Today we have arrived at our last hotel at the Ngorongoro crater and the first connection in a week.  I'm sitting on the deck of out room overlooking the crater and waiting to do a walking safari.  Here is a picture from the safari...and then back to the story.

Birds on a giraffe
we left off when we were in Zanzibar.  Jozani forest is a preserve for the worlds remaining population of the Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey.  Our tour guide walked us through the forest and the monkeys were all around us.  We felt like we were in the middle of the zoo.  The monkeys are not afraid of people at all and seemed totally uninterested.  They are protected, a population of about 2,400 remain.

From here we went to a little bit of paradise on the beach, Coral Rock hotel.  Our rooms looked out on the infinity pool and the Indian Ocean beyond, gives a new meaning to little blue and big blue.

Sunrise over the Indian Ocean
There is a coral reef that protects the bay and early in the morning we went out with Captain Chicken and his sailing Dhow to go snorkeling.  It was quite something to watch him manage the sail and coming about.  He manhandled the sail around the mast.

Coral Rock hotel
We saw many colorful fish and coral in the beautiful warm water.
2 nights here and then a transit day to Arusha to start the safari.

Where have you been? I've been trying to get a hold of you for three weeks now. The gears in the Lab need adjustment.
Well, sure looks like an exiting adventure. Happy shuttering and see ya soon.
By the way, what's with all the bus rides? Don't they have Harleys over there? And even more important, did you see any live music?
