Tourists in our own city.....

Yesterday Kris and I had a fun time going aboard the Queen of Seattle for a two hour cruise, a two hour cruise.....no, we made it home safe and sound.
The Queen of Seattle is a stern wheeler. Still operates with two steam engines and two diesel fired boilers. It was a very smooth quiet and enjoyable time. Kris had an opportunity to reminisce about her years living in a Lake Union houseboat, and I reminisced about my early years on Queen Anne Hill. I got to tell stories of playing dangerously around the ship canal, riding bridges, climbing towers etc.

In this picture I think is Kris's house boat. Its been remodeled and re-arranged so Kris isn't positive it's the same one....However, it is the same dock...

Moving on, We had a nice show from Aqua Man...some guy in a water jet pack putting on a display for the Chandlers Crab House Sunday brunch diners...

The draw bridges opened up for us, seaplanes come and go, kids sail toy boats, and the South Lake Union is a pretty cool addition to the city.

There are some really beautiful old yachts in the Lake Union moorage areas...
Our day began with a trip to Pike Place Market for fresh fish, then to the Exofficio outlet store (Kris is regretting taking me there), then on to Lake Union for the cruise. All in all it was a spectacular day.
This last picture requires some 'splainin. On the left is an undated 60's vintage picture of dad on the deck of the Duwamish. The Duwamish was Seattle's prime fire-boat at the time. On the right is the Duwamish as it sits in front of the new Museum of History and Industry. On a couple of occasions dad could take us aboard the Duwamish.

Dad had a couple of pictures of the Duwamish in action. He used to tell me each nozzle could fill an Olympic sized pool in 4 or 5 minutes...

Bob, This was a beautiful set of photos
from our most gorgeous water city, Seattle.
The yachts, old wooden boats, bridge shots - and that "aqua (wo)man" thing!
I want one of those so please if you could make one or two for us, that would be peachy.

Sending you our love as you head out for Africa! MJ
